alkhaha: Hawaiian for We Lied

TV Weather

Weather woman tells all

Okay, so we're not really done telling you about our vacation. Here you see the local weather woman, explaining the big soup into which Hawaii's goose was placed and thoroughly cooked. If you look carefully, you can see us on the island furthest to the northwest. We are, as they say "out of the woods." President Clinton, on the other hand, is trying to golf on Oahu, which is the next island to the southeast from our little paradise. He, poor soul, is now very wet.

Surfer hunting on Poipu Beach

With a final reprieve from inclement weather, we struck out again to explore the beaches of Kauai, searching for beefcake. Here, Liz scans the horizon for Surfer Joe and the Joettes.
Seal on beach

Big surf means tired surfers

This boy didn't know when to quit, and you see the results. Actually, this is a huge seal, resting up before striking back out to sea. He occupied a fairly large portion of the beach. This is a common sight here, and when a seal beaches for a rest, the lifeguards string out yellow "caution, crime scene" tapes to guarantee we nosy ones give the resting seal a wide berth and what little privacy can be had under the lenses of a thousand cameras.
Mountain View

Late afternoon at the Kilohana Crater

A few moments of reflection at the foot of this extinct volcano were our final daylight reward after a day of exploration. Even though Kauai has only one major road, with short side paths every so often, there is much to see at every turn. You should come here some time. It's a remarkable place.

And so, this time we really do fade off into the sunset. If you care to see us in the actual process of fading, go toDAY 9.
